Helpful for families wanting to avoid having their young become medicalized for life for thoughts in their head (trans)

Besides the studies indicating that young people with confusion about what "gender" she or he is are not more at risk for self-inflicted death than other disturbed youth, the fact is that many of these children are starting on the medicalization pathway at around 9 years old (sometimes as early as eight, which is when Tanner stage 2 starts in some girls). See the chart and link below. Notice the age of the girls (9-15 years old). Over the past five years of researching this topic, parents are told that even these children are at risk of ending their lives. Really? A nine-year-old? A scare tactic.
The following link and chart are from a research paper from the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children's Hospital Los Angeles regarding what is euphemistically called “puberty blockers.” These are chemical castration drugs used on sex offenders. Their classification is GnRH/LHRH Agonists. Researchers for the International Society for Sexual Medicine published a 2017 paper in which they concluded:
Clinical Implications: Although LHRH agonists seem to be the most effective drugs in the treatment of paraphilic fantasies and behaviors, they should be reserved for patients with a paraphilic disorder and the highest risk of sexual offending because of their extensive side effects.
GnRH/LHRH Agonists have a long-established list of extensive side effects. One of the brand names is “Lupron.” Not so incidentally, one of the risks of “puberty blockers” is suicide and depression. In 2010, a study (by the manufacturer) on the use of Lupron/GnRH in this context had significant portions of the discussion, conclusions, and key findings redacted. The stated reason for these redactions was: “Prejudicial to commercial interests.”
